About Hampton Young

Hampton Young was first licensed as an attorney in Nevada in 1978. After practicing for many years in Nevada, he moved to Casper, Wyoming in 2000 and worked as a paralegal for a local Casper attorney. He joined the bar in 2005, and took over the Casper attorney's practice.

Initially, once licensed in Nevada he served as a Nevada Deputy Attorney General in Carson City for three years, and then, except for four years as an in-house counsel for First Interstate Bank of Nevada at its headquarters in Reno, he was primarily in private practice. In Reno he practiced Bankruptcy, Commercial, Real Estate, and Criminal Law.

Licensed in Wyoming in 2005, he practiced primarily in several areas, including Bankruptcy, Criminal, Estate Family, and Worker's Compensation law. In the criminal law arena he was a half-time attorney for the Natrona County Public Defender's office in Casper, and he was the Public Defender for the City of Casper. He was also a member of the Federal Criminal Justice Act Panel for the District of Wyoming which involved criminal defense matters whenever there were too many defendants in a federal criminal matter, typically a large drug conspiracy, or in cases where there was some other conflict for a federal defendant with the U.S. Public Defender's Office.

Virtual Bankruptcy Representation

The wide variety of law which he has practiced is very helpful for bankruptcy representation. More importantly, Young has many years of bankruptcy law experience commencing in 1983 as a former in-house counsel for First Interstate Bank of Nevada. His years of banking experience is very helpful for debtor-creditor issues. In Wyoming he closed his Casper law practice officially on September 30, 2021, and moved for family reasons to Portland, Oregon where he currently resides. Today, he conducts a virtual law practice in bankruptcy exclusively so as to concentrate on providing Wyomingites with quick, easy and competent bankruptcy representation. Today, it's a digital world, and in Wyoming all bankruptcy hearings and U.S. Bankruptcy Trustee meetings have been conducted remotely by video since pre-pandemic. All appropriate paperwork is filed electronically. Today, this operates as a major convenience for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Cheyenne, for the trustees, for the attorney and for you, the consumer.

After graduation from the University of Nevada in Reno he served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army for two years. He was a television journalist for KCRL-TV in Reno (Now KRVN-TV), and KLAS-TV in Las Vegas prior to attending law school.
